NB: Dowber Gill Passage connects Providence Pot to Dow Cave. On a plan it looks like a simple straight passage. Underground, it is a vertical maze, where one has to climb up and down, quite often using difficult traverses and hairy climbs. It is just as easy to lose the way in a vertical as in a horizontal maze, and route finding is difficult and can lead to cavers finding it impossible to find the way forward and/ back. There have been a lot of rescues of cavers from this cave due to route finding difficulties. It is one of those trips which every caver has to do sometime.

Bill and I experimented with the footloops and other artificial aids, Royanne showed us how to do the climb properly.
